I’VE ALWAYS BEEN
HIGHLY
MOTIVATED AND DEEPLY CURIOUS.
From the time I was a small child, I knew what I wanted and pursued it tenaciously. I learned to define myself by how many hours I worked, my job title, and the honors and awards received. I always compared myself to others and found myself lacking...so I worked harder.
MY WORK ETHIC MADE ME SUCCESSFUL IN MY CAREER.
Director in the 16th largest school district in the country.
Entrepreneur and small business owner.
Aquired two masters degrees and a doctorate.
Successful consulting and coaching career.
Even after all that success, I felt like an imposter. Despite being a leader, I did not feel like one. My leadership did not look like the other leaders I knew, and I became filled with self-doubt. My purpose was not clear, and I was anything but bold.
THE SAME WORK ETHIC THAT MADE ME EFFECTIVE IN MY CAREER, TORPEDOED MY PERSONAL LIFE.
I was exhausted, burned out, filled with anxiety, depression, and a paralyzing fear that one day I would lose everything. I became stuck and the only tool I had was to continue to play the part of a successful leader, while inside I was worn away. My marriage failed, and I decided to leave the career I had built for more than half of my adult life. I felt lost, scared, and alone.
I FINALLY HAD TO STOP AND TAKE A CLOSE LOOK AT MYSELF AND HOW I HAD ENDED UP HERE.
I came to the profound realization that my need to people-please and strive for perfection prevented me from living a purpose-filled, joyful life. The qualities that had previously enabled me to excel in my professional life no longer served me. They had become shackles, robbing me of my self-assurance, self-value, my marriage, and ultimately, my happiness.
I had to change my way of being. I needed to be bold and raise my standards to lead the life I had always imagined but was too afraid to embrace. I knew I had to create an unapologetically bold vision for my future - one where my personal and professional life were integrated. Stepping into my own power was scary and intimidating – but remaining stuck in a life with no purpose was no longer an option. I had to learn I was a different kind of leader than the old model - and that, in fact, was a good thing. Now, I have learned a lot and my life is radically different. Yours can be too!
I AM LIVING PROOF THAT YOU CAN GET UNSTUCK, FIND YOUR VOICE, AND LIVE UNAPOLOGETICALLY BOLD.
Today I support other women in finding their path and their voice by sharing tools, tips, and wisdom gained from my journey from people-pleasing, perfectionism, and crushing imposter syndrome to being a happy and confident CEO.
